About Us and Epilepsy

This page provides a brief overview EWA's mission for this website and information on Epilepsy so that you can gain a better understanding of its impacts on our local and wider communities.

Our Mission

Epilepsy is a highly prevalent and misunderstood health condition, affecting over 27,000 Western Australians. We hope that one day, those suffering from epilepsy will have the courage to speak about their condition, free from judgement by those around them.

The purpose of this website is to provide schools with all they need to organise fundraising events, so as to raise awareness of Epilepsy and provide Epilepsy WA with vital funds so that they may continue to support the epilepsy affected.

This website has been created by the John Curtin Leadership Academy in partnership with Epilepsy WA. We look forward to challenging the stigma surrounding Epilepsy, and thank you for joining us on our journey.

World Health Organization Call to Action

WHO have released an urgent call to action from all Epilepsy specific and wider organisations as stated in their "Epilepsy, A Public Health Imperative" report published in 2019. A copy of this report can be found here.

"Call for sustained and coordinated action to ensure that every person with epilepsy has access to the care and treatment they need, and the opportunity to live free from stigma and discrimination in all parts of the world."

For this reason, we here at EWA are doing our utmost to support those suffering from Epilepsy and de-stigmatise the health condition.
